Members of the Oxford Parent Teacher Association (PTA) voted in February to authorize text messaging so parents can be more connected with our community.
Until now, PTA communication has come primarily through our biweekly email newsletter and printed newsletter. Text messages have come from Principal Beth Cornwell.
While the principal will continue to send text messages on behalf of the school, notifying you about holidays when school is closed and school-sponsored events, the PTA will use our own text messaging system to notify you about volunteer opportunities and PTA-sponsored events.
At the start of the school year, many parents shared phone numbers with the PTA along with consent to receive calls and text messages. Whether or not we have your phone number and prior consent, all parents will need to opt in to receive PTA text messages.
In the months ahead, we plan to survey parents to learn more about your communication preferences so we can send you the most relevant information and respond best to the needs of our community.
Once you sign up, expect to receive about three text messages per month from the PTA account. You can also expect us to observe quiet hours between 8pm and 8am when we will not disturb you with text messages.
When you view the opt-in form, be sure to click “Text me with news & offers” and enter your phone number to begin receiving our texts.
