Proposal for Mural Installation at Oxford Elementary School
Introduction
We are excited to propose the installation of a vibrant and engaging mural at Oxford Elementary School, slated for completion in the spring of 2025. This mural will feature simple geometric themes designed to enhance the visual environment of the school and inspire creativity among students.
Project Overview
The proposed mural will be a dynamic addition to Oxford Elementary School, reflecting the
school's commitment to fostering a stimulating and aesthetically pleasing educational
environment. Utilizing simple patterns, the mural will engage students with its colorful and
orderly design, creating a space that is both visually appealing and thought-provoking.
Objectives
1. Enhance School Environment: The mural will beautify the school's exterior and
provide a welcoming atmosphere for students, staff, and visitors.
2. Stimulate Creativity: Engaging in the mural creation process can serve as a catalyst for
students’ imagination and creativity, reinforcing their appreciation for art and design.
3. Promote School Identity: The mural will contribute to a sense of community and pride
within the school, reflecting its values and spirit.
Design Concept
Working with the artists’ fun, whimsical styles while incorporating community ideas to create a harmonious and balanced visual effect. The design will be:
● Colorful and Engaging: Using a palette of bright, bold colors to capture attention,
provide beauty, and inspire.
● Simple yet Impactful: Organic patterns are easy to interpret, making them accessible to
all ages.
● Educational and Fun: The design can incorporate elements that subtly introduce
creativity and design.
Budget
The total requested budget for the mural project is $6,000. This budget will cover:
1. Wall Prep & Protection: $1,000
2. Materials and Supplies: $3,000
3. Artist Labor Costs: $2,000
Timeline
● Planning and Design Phase: September 2024 – March 2025
● Mural Creation and Installation: April 2025 – May 2025
● Final Touches and Unveiling: May 2025
Community Involvement
We plan to involve students, staff, and community members in the mural’s development.
Opportunities for classroom ideation, design input, and active participation in the mural creation
will be provided to ensure the mural reflects the community’s collective vision.
Step 1: Brainstorm Ideas
● Hold sessions with students and staff to brainstorm ideas that represent the community.
Gather sketches and feedback to guide the mural design.
Step 2: Collect Community Input
● Invite community members to share their ideas for the mural through surveys or
meetings. Identify themes that should be included in the design.
Step 3: Create a Draft Design
● Develop a draft design based on the gathered ideas, and share it for feedback to ensure
it reflects the community’s vision.
Step 4: Involve the Community in Painting
● Organize painting days for students, staff, and community members to work on the mural
together, building a sense of pride and ownership.
Step 5: Finalize and Celebrate
● Complete final touches, then hold a reveal event to celebrate the finished mural with
everyone who contributed.
