From our Principal
As 2014 comes to an end, I want to thank you all in making the first part of the school year a successful one. There have been some challenges but that comes with the territory. Overall, we have settled into a good groove for the 2014–15 school year and I see things continuing to grow and strengthen in our school community.
If you’re wondering what you can have your child do over winter break, I recommend having your child read daily, and write letters to relatives and friends. If you have computer access, there is also a link to some educational activities on the Oxford Library website. And I always encourage families to play games like cards, Monopoly, chess, etc. Games are a great way to build in family time and there are educational aspects, too! (I learned my addition facts to 10 by playing Monopoly.)
We return to school on Monday, January 5, 2015. If I don’t see you before winter break, please have a safe and wonderful break and see you in 2015! ~ Beth Rhine
From our PTA President
Congratulations to all and a big thank you to family, friends and neighbors who help make the Spell-a-thon such a big success! We raised almost $19,000!!! That’s $4,000 more than our goal. Yes!
Our Winter Fair is scheduled for January 30, 2015. Over the break, think of fresh ideas for your classroom projects. Some potential ideas include: senior center valentines, art for the fences, valentines for families. What hands-on project can you and your classroom do at the fair?
We’re happy to announce that our Spring Raffle and Dance will be on March 20th. Does anyone love to organize parties? We are looking for someone to help lead up the volunteers for the Raffle and Dance. We already have a few folks in place but need someone to step up to coordinate. By the way, we have folks already on board to do prize procurement 🙂 Please email me with questions!
Have a wonderful holiday break.
