Classroom Interruptions & SGC

Dear Oxford Families,

I hope everyone is having a great week. Last week’s

Heritage/Back-to-School Potluck was a lot of fun. It was nice to have some time to visit with everyone and to have some great food!

In order to respect learning time and to send that message to our children, too, we need to limit classroom interruptions. You can help us by making sure your child knows where he/she is going after school. We understand that emergencies arise but daily messages to your child are challenging and can be disruptive to the classroom.

I appreciate how students want to share some of their home treasures, various toys and Pokémon cards, but all those items need to stay at home. They are often distracting and problems arise when kids share, trade, borrow, and give them away. Students can bring special items if a teacher or staff member has a special time in class or something arranged for students. Otherwise, the toys and cards stay home; consider setting up a play date to share treasures at home.

If you haven’t already, please vote for the members of the SGC, School Governance Council. I emailed out the link earlier this week and paper ballots went home yesterday. Voting either via paper or on-line. Thank you!
