College & Career Day on Friday, 3/7
On Friday, we are celebrating College and Career Day, along with the rest of the City of Berkeley. If you’re on campus, stop by and post a flag sticker of your alma mater. We are also having a kick-off Community Meeting/Assembly on Friday morning with 1-2 guest speakers to talk about the options for colleges and careers!
Our thanks to Mary Lewis, K teacher, for arranging visitors and promoting this event!

From the Principal:
At last week’s Community Meeting, the upcoming School Raffle and Spring Dance were announced to the students and families in attendance. The Dance is on Friday, March 21st. Hope to see you all there. And please sell those tickets! There are a lot of great prizes available.
Another upcoming event is the first School Auction (off-site and adults only) on Friday, April 18th. We want everyone to know they are wanted and welcome to attend. Berkeley schools pull students from all over the city, which helps to create a unique and rich community. I am hoping our Auction will also represent our diverse school community. Please consider talking to a parent in your child’s classroom and encouraging him/her to attend the auction. Sometimes that personal invitation helps people to feel welcome.

Wine Wednesday is Tomorrow! Please Donate a Bottle at Drop-off
Friday, April 18 will be our first ever adults-only Spring Celebration & Auction, our “Toast to Oxford.” Can you donate a bottle of wine to help stock the bar for the auction?
Every Wednesday morning several Oxford volunteers will be stationed at both the Oxford and Walnut Street drop-off locations collecting bottles for the celebration. Read the “Toast to Oxford” Committee’s original ask.
“I’m A Performer” Concert—Bring Instruments to School!

Tomorrow is the big assembly, I’m a Performer. It will begin at 10:10 a.m. Students will be playing along with Ming Luke, the education director and conductor of the Berkeley Symphony.
If you have a 4th or 5th grade student, please remind them to remember to bring their instrument to school tomorrow. Thank you!
OxfordElementary.org is all NEW!
The school’s website has a brand new look! The whole shebang has been rebuilt using the popular WordPress content management system, updated with useful widgets and menus, and edited down into more user-friendly sections and pages.
What we’ve got now is an easier-to-navigate online brochure on Oxford for prospective families, plus all the key information for current families, including the calendar, volunteer, donate, scrip and PTA/SGC pages. And we have a news blog (which feeds to Facebook and Twitter), where I’m posting The Oxford News and some of the alerts submitted to the Oxford listserv.
